Open to all students in the Mifflin and Juniata County School Districts, the Juniata Valley Striders Track & Field and Cross Country Club is for children 7-14 who are interested in track and cross country. The club meets several times a week from April through December.
All practices and meets are optional and begin at the Mifflin County Track Complex in Highland Park.
The Juniata Valley Striders Spring Track & Field Program will hold sign-up on Monday, March 25th at 6 PM at the MCSD Track & Field Complex. Practice will run from 6-7:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings with the first practice beginning on the first Monday in April. USATF Membership and a signed waiver are needed to participate in the program which will offer several local meets and an opportunity to participate in USATF post-season meets. USATF memberships may be obtained online at USATF.org.
The program is for youth 7-14 years of age interested in Track & Field (running, sprinting, hurdling, jumps, and throws). Practice involves warm up, skill development, conditioning, and warm down. Practices are not mandatory but highly recommended. We will offer several inter-squad meets (free), several local meets (with a registration fee), and USATF Competition (with competition standards and a registration fee). Coaches have USATF clearances and certifications in track and field.
Track & Field
Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 PM – 7:30 PM at the Mifflin County High School track.
Practices will be held at Highland Park Elementary on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 PM – 7 PM August and September, 5:15 PM-6:15 PM October, and 5 PM – 6 PM in November.
Both local and USATF competitions will be conducted during the season.
Local competition will be free with no cost involved to the athletes.
USATF competition will involve a USATF membership, uniform, and associated entry fees.
